Colour Theory Obsessions

Hello lovelies!

Anyone who has taken my Art Journaling 101 or 201 classes will know about my colour theory obsessions.  I truly believe that understanding colour theory will make you happier with your outcomes when it comes time to free form play in your art journal.

It seems I am not the only one!  Here is an excellent colour theory blog post from a great blog.

Art Journal Pages - The 201 progression continues

Hello lovelies!

I'm sharing some art journal pages today.  As you may know, I am running my Art Journal Basics course in Geelong at the moment, and I am re-doing all the class pages and recording the process. Of course I can't do things in exactly the same way that I did it the first time, that would be boring... So here is my updated progression for week 3...

Week 3 is all about handwriting, journal spilling and writing in general.  The original page was this one:
and this is the "new" version.  You may recognise this from my Fude ball disaster post earlier this month.

This was the original homework page from this lesson:
And this is the "new" homework page:

The recreation of Lesson 4 is currently underway, but I must say that I am struggling with my deadlines this month.

I have released the first class as free video tutorials here, if you are interested in playing along!

Playing with rubbing alcohol - a short technique tutorial

Hello lovelies,

As I alluded to in my last post, things have been a little hectic around here in the last couple of weeks, but I have managed to play with paint and rubbing alcohol - aka isopropyl.  (Here in Australia it is sold at chemists under the brand name Isocol Rubbing Alcohol).

I thought I would share, even though this is a far from "finished" page - at this stage I would classify this as a background that is 90% complete.
This is a technique that has been around FOREVER!  I remembered playing with this years ago and I wanted to test and see how some of the newer paints (i.e. paints released in the last 5 years) would work with this technique.

Art Journaling 202 Class Roundup

Hello lovelies!

I hope you are all well?  I've had a hectic time since coming my last post - clients for my paying job having various "emergencies" that require my IMMEDIATE attention. Despite these "emergencies" being completely self-induced, my clients feel that I should share in the pain of their inactivity.

*sigh*

Anyway onto some more interesting things, it was 202 class on Saturday - yay!  My fabulous friend Rosie McLeod was teaching a page this month, a page that had us all breaking out the watercolour paints and Micron pens!

Here's Rosie working her magic:

And here are some of the creations in progress during class.

I'm back!! Did you miss me?

Hello lovelies!

I've been away & quiet on the blog... did you miss me?

I've been in Perth helping my family with a few things - year end accounts and the like, so haven't had any time to do art. So all I have to give you today is a picture of me swinging my nephew on his new swing!
I'll be doing some bits and pieces this week for the blog - after I have caught up on a backlog from the paying job!

'till next time
